About
The UK was the first fleet formed in the UK and has been sailing on the Solent for nearly 20 years. When the boat was launched it attracted many talented dinghy and small boat sailors with fleets of over 100 boats. Despite a decline in numbers the fleet has maintained its position as a very affordable, manageable boat which provides an ideal stepping stone from dinghies to fell offshore yachts.
UK Fleets
There are now growing numbers of fleets throughout the UK where its performance as a one design race class is appreciated.
Fleets exist in the Solent, Lake District, Marconi Sailing club, Oxford & most recently Holyhead.
Governance
The UK class association is run by a small committee of committed SB20 sailors with a focus on ensuring there is a good National race program including an annual National championships and a National, Solent and Northern Series.
The class association works closely with Sportsboat World who are the design rights holder and responsible for distribution and sales of all new boats and parts.
We work collectively to develop the fleet within the UK, not only to grow the number of active boats on the water but also to help increase the skills of those sailing.
See below for the committee members actively developing the class racing.
Membership
Membership is open to any person owning or sailing an SB20 and is mandatory for anyone regularly racing in any of the class organised series.
